Journalism & Mass Communication Department

The department of Journalism and Mass Communication was established in 2008 in this college. This subject is being taught in B. A. Classes as an elective subject. We train our students for Print, Electronic and New Media. For this purpose, we have a well equipped 'Media Lab' consisting of various instruments like Cameras, TV, Projector, Computers with the latest editing software etc. Our department also regularly organizes workshops, seminars to make the students keep pace with recent trends in technology and media. In addition, the department is also taking out a weekly newspaper titled 'Samaj Te Patrakar' since 2013 with which we aim to equip our students with the technical know-how of the newspaper. Also, it serves another purpose of creating awareness about the local issues of the city in the newspaper editions. This newspaper draws contributions from the other staff of the college as well as the students of the department in terms of articles and essays. Moreover, students are actively engaged in the process of newspaper publication as they are assigned to cover the news related to issues of the city. Currently, students of this department are working with many esteemed media organizations like BBC Punjabi, ABP Sanjha, ETV Bharat, News18, etc.
