History Department

Department of History is successfully running Under Graduate course (B.A. Pass Course/Regular). The department of History teaches history syllabus prescribed by Punjabi University, Patiala. It covers the teaching classes from the evolution of the Ancient Man with the inception of human civilization in India and the world. These classes have been divided into six semesters within the three-year course. We are running two methods of teaching in our college. i.e. theory and practical classes. The theory classes run in classrooms to using black/whiteboards and through PPT slides as well as video documentaries/debate of historians such as Aryan’s theory, the evolution of humans, etc. The second type of class is practical class are being held with field survey of historical monuments, Archaeological sites and archaeological explorations/excavations in different parts of the state and country. The student, also getting the knowledge of ancient script (Brahmi, Khorsthi, Sanskrit) and numismatics. The department has old pictures of monuments and architectural design of temples, stupas, caves, etc. for the benefit of students. The department of history makes a historical visitevery year. Some of our graduates have also gone into High School education, providing the region with highly trained history teachers.
